Solar Water Heating

Use the energy from the sun to heat the water for your home…

A solar thermal water heating system can provide up to 70% of your property’s hot water, will save you money on your energy bills and provide you with an attractive return on investment through the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).

The Greener Group solar thermal team provide design, supply and installation of solar thermal panels and evacuated tubes, with on-going service and support. We are accredited to the government backed Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) and will also give support when applying for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), to ensure the whole process from start to finish runs smoothly.

We provide and install solar heating systems in the Chester and Liverpool area. Solar thermal systems work by collecting heat directly from the sun through either a flat plate or evacuated tube collector normally located on a properties roof. The heat is then transferred through a heat transfer fluid to the property’s water which is then stored in a water tank.

Reduce your Energy Bills & Earn Money

By using the heat from the sun a solar thermal panel will heat household water throughout the day, reducing the requirement for a traditional oil or gas boiler to heat the water and therefore reducing your household energy bills.

A system can also serve as a form of income through the government backed RHI payment scheme – owners of systems are paid per kW of energy they generate and payments last for a total of seven years from domestic installs and twenty years for non-domestic. To get a better understanding of how you can benefit from RHI payments, try the DECC’s online domestic RHI calculator.

Can solar thermal be combined with other forms of renewable heating?

Yes! Solar thermal systems can be combined with air source heat pumps to create a truly eco-friendly home. Other renewable systems also come with their own set of government incentives, which are worth enquiring about.
