Commercial & Domestic Biomass Boilers
Using wood fuel to supply heat for central heating and hot water is a great alternative to fossil fuels.
Since the launch of the Renewable Heat Incentive, biomass boilers have been rapidly deployed in the UK from virtually zero to over 6,000 installations across both the domestic and commercial sectors. This type of renewable heating technology is suited to a range of applications from single residential properties to large megawatt district heating schemes. Biomass boilers are also ideally suited to replace existing fossil fuel boilers, especially in rural or off grid locations, making it an attractive option from both a green and financial perspective.
The Greener Group specialise in the design and installation of wood pellet, chip and log boilers ranging in size from 8kW to 1MW. With installations from Peterhead to Surrey we have a wealth of design and installation experience to provide the right system for your requirements.
Benefit from The Renewable Heat Incentive
Biomass boiler installations are supported through the Renewable Heat Incentive which pays plant owners for the heat they generate. Not only can you save money on fuel costs, your heating system will actually pay for itself and provide an income over the next seven years (domestic) or twenty years (commercial) through the scheme.
Different Types Of Biomass Boiler and Wood Fuel
Biomass boilers are suitable for a wide range of heating applications and are available in a variety of sizes, fuel types, heat outputs and efficiency. These typically include log boilers, wood chip boilers and pellet boilers.
Log Boilers – Use your own source of wood!
Log boilers burn logs to provide heat to a property heating system. They come in a range of sizes and output starting at 10kW and ranging to the 300kW+ scale. They’re often a great solution for farmers, landowners, forest management businesses and anyone with a ready source of logs.
Wood Chip Boilers
Wood chip biomass boilers use a prepared wood chip as the combustible fuel. Wood chip as a fuel is one of the cheapest available (only losing out to logs) and can be purchased in bulk to offer further savings.
Wood chip boilers are available in sizes ranging from 30kW up to 5MW and bigger. They can be used on large residential properties, multiple residential properties, schools, hospitals, farms and all kinds of businesses.
Wood Pellet Boilers
Wood pellet boilers burn wood pellets to create heat. The pellets are an excellent fuel for several reasons including the fact they can be mass produced to a high, uniform specification and have a high calorific value. Wood pellets are made in several places around Britain, and in many countries around the world. The pellets are generally made from compacted sawdust and related industrial wastes from the milling of lumber, manufacture of wood products and furniture, and construction.
As expert designers of biomass heating systems we have encountered lots of installation scenarios and we are able to help deliver your next biomass boiler project. Contact one of the team for more information.
